kansas athletic commission

About Us

The Kansas Athletic Commission (KAC) was formed in 2005 and is in place to regulate combat sports within the state of Kansas and to promote fighter safety above all else. The commission regulates mixed martial arts, professional boxing, kickboxing and professional wrestling. Along with these combat sports, the commission also oversees Jiu-Jitsu and grappling tournaments and smoker events around the state.

our mission

The Kansas Athletic Commission administers laws and regulations governing regulated sports and wrestling.

The Commission continually strives to provide authorized control and official direction for professional boxing, kickboxing, mixed martial arts and wrestling, while encouraging the promotion of such sporting events in the State of Kansas.

The regulatory process shall continue to facilitate the health and safety of contestants, fair and competitive bouts, in addition to protecting the general public.

The State of Kansas is open for business! The Kansas Department of Commerce (KDC) is always seeking to welcome new promotions to our state. We will do all we can to  help you fight or promote in Kansas.

Fighting or hosting an event in Kansas will allow you to be under the direct supervision of licensed individuals and a state commission that is a member of the Association of Boxing Commissions. All matches, professional and amateur, will be considered sanctioned fights, will be reported to the appropriate governing bodies as such, and will have ABC licensed referees in charge of the action. Fighters will be required to have blood work done in order to ensure the safety of all combatants and will undergo a pre-fight physical to make sure they are able to compete.

For promoters, Kansas has never been more open for business or ready for promotions to come into the state. The commission has gone to great lengths to make our process as easy as possible and have developed several initiatives designed to help make our state more promoter-friendly. We have excellent fighters, referees and fans, and are constantly looking for new venues and locations for hosting events.

If you are interested in fighting or promoting in Kansas, please feel free to contact us at any time!
